This is the last in my series of “V” posts in July—Vegas, Valued, Vending, Vision and Vitamix. For those of you that follow my Facebook posts, you may have already seen this. But honestly, it is such a funny ironic story that it bears repeating and I now have the follow up.

Many years ago I was a schoolteacher in New York City. One day my team teacher Sheila told me that she really wanted a blender. At the time I said, “Sheila you don’t want a blender, you want a Mercedes. You just buy a blender.” I shared this story often over the years, thinking I understood something about the meaning of life! For the past year, I have been talking to a friend in the restaurant supply business about investing in a high-power blender. I keep balking at the price, not sure if I will really use it. I also keep thinking that I want it. This morning while sitting in my hot tub and watching the ravens I realized, “Wow, now that I have a Mercedes I want a blender.”

Well, I did take the big plunge and got myself a Vitamix. I did this after a friend told me she started to vacuum after juicing. That was it for me as I figured I needed an elixir that made me want to clean the house too. The Vitamix is a seriously awesome machine! I love to just put the whole veggie drawer into the blender, mix it with some coconut water and watch the pulp simply disappear. Where does it go? It is amazing, the motor is so powerful that it decimates the pulp and turns it all into juice. I get a huge rush mentally and physically ingesting such concentrated nutrition, not to mention how grateful my body is to be getting green food. Winter will bring soups and summer will bring smoothies. So in fact a blender IS something you buy and enjoy. Alas, I have no idea how to travel with it and too bad I can’t drive it, then I could combine the car and the blender into one.

I’m thinking all that green food will make me a better presenter and consultant and who knows, it could unleash my inner Vixen.
