The Fellowship Bible Church in Little Rock, Arkansas produced the following video, “Get Service.” But you don’t need to be a service provider or a churchgoer to appreciate it. The story is universal.
We all have aggravating days. In fact, sometimes it seems that countless hassles can join forces and actually conspire to undermine our hectic days. The video I’m sharing helps put bad days in perspective. It also demonstrates a way we can “restart our days” at any time. It’s well worth watching!
I found the video both enlightening and inspiring. After all, most of the problems we experience are actually mere inconveniences. When we figuratively “put on a new pair of glasses,” we can see through our own frustrations to perceive that others are just as human as we are. In other words, they experience their own sets of hassles and sometimes even serious problems, as our hero discovered.
In my customer service training, I emphasize the importance of putting personal concerns aside and focusing on customers’ needs. We can also apply this mindset in our everyday lives. Of course, this benefits others, but it also benefits us. As our attitudes and actions change, we experience fewer “bad days.” Instead of dwelling on the glitches we experience in our lives, we can practice patience and kindness in order to make someone else’s day a little better. What a different world it would be!
Thank you very much, Holly, for sharing the Get Service video clip, which was both touching and instructive. Just started reading Neon Signs, in my role as Guest Services Manager and Volunteer Coordinator at Sonoma Raceway. It’s very helpful and I appreciate all the resources on your website. Was especially interested to see NASCAR listed among your many corporate clients. I hope to meet you someday.
Thank you Tim, I have done several seminars for various NASCAR tracks including yours. I truly appreciate your taking the time to write and delighted that my work is helpful.
