I am a sucker for acknowledgement, I simply love it. I adore watching awards shows like the Emmy’s, Golden Globes and the Oscars, just to watch the acceptance speeches and the acknowledgement of a job well done. (Ok, I admit, I like seeing the clothes too).
There is nothing quite like being acknowledged by your peers for good work, which is why getting a proclamation of a day named after me in Las Vegas by my colleagues in that city was so meaningful. I was really surprised and delighted by the gift as it was thoughtful, creative, and filled with appreciation for the twenty years I have been working with Las Vegas hotels. The whole idea of having a day in my honor puts a smile on my face, and I have had a lot of good laughs with friends and family over this outrageous and wonderful gesture.
Since Thank You Very Much are my four favorite words, I would like to say thank you very much Michael Tuesca, Residence Concierge at The Mandarin Oriental in Las Vegas for coming up with the idea and following through with the Mayor to make it happen. I appreciate you appreciating me. Which reminds me of a great book created by a friend of mine, Mike Robbins, on The Power of Appreciation. Check it out. I highly recommend it.
Dear Holly, Congrats! This is so wonderful. With friendship and admiration, Nina
Holly, dear Friend, I am so THRILLED for you — just imagine a whole day named JUST FOR YOU!!!!! Wow! I’ll bet there are not many people in this whole world who have that honor. You are so dear, so passionate, and so GOOD at what you do — thank you for the difference you are making in this world. I am honored to have you as my friend.
Blessings and love,
Barbara
P.S. I have a book on Appreciation, too, called “The Simple Truths of Appreciation–How Each of Us Can Choose to Make a Difference.” Let me know if you would like a copy.
