Welcome to my Blog!

I admit…I am new to the blogoshere. In fact, at first I didn’t understand why I would want one. I quickly learned, however,  that having a blog has a number of advantages: It’s a great tool for organizing information, it’s easy to update and it makes it more likely that information about your business will pop up on search engines like Google and Yahoo.  But the advantage that appealed to me the most was their humanizing qualities. Where websites can come across as static, faceless entities, blogs have a more personal “voice,” reflecting honesty, transparency and an invitation for the reader to chime in and join in on the discussion.

As a concierge and service consultant, I have always respected the importance of adding a personal touch to every contact—be it with a guest, customer, co-worker or colleague. It could run the gamut from sincerely greeting a guest by name to lending him your reading glasses for a business meeting.   In today’s computerized world, blogs give us the opportunity to combine high tech with a soft touch, enabling us to communicate with each other and share information like never before.

So now, the whole blog idea is making much more sense. It’s great timing, too, as my new book, The Art and Science of the Hotel Concierge is hot off the press, and I’m eager to share some excerpts from it that you’ll find interesting. And so I invite you to check in on my blog regularly for compelling stories, industry news, provocative thoughts and service updates.

In Service Through Friendship,

Holly

P.S. Did you know that Les Clefs d’Or, Union Internationale des Concierges d”Hôtels now also has a blog? Check it out:
