Garbage In Garbage Out, Or What You Listen to Matters

I have long been an advocate of not watching the evening news, especially before going to sleep. Filling my head with all that negativity simply isn’t good for my psyche, soul, or quite frankly business.  I work hard at keeping my energy vibrating at a high level of frequency and the news is a perfect way to zap that energetic field.

I feel the same way about music. When I find myself driving next to a car with blasting rap music, I cringe at all the negativity spewing from the speakers.  If it is true that we are energy beings, then it stands to reason that it is our responsibility to keep our energy positive and vibrating at the same levels we wish to attract. It is one of the reasons that I seek out positive music. I love listening to music when I exercise and lately I have been playing non-stop my friend Karen Drucker’s new CD, The Call.

Karen’s song, “I don’t have to be perfect,” has a calypso beat and the following inspiring lyrics, “I don’t have to be perfect. I’m doing the best I can. I give myself permission to be just who I am.” Inevitably I find myself dancing around in the pool with my iPod snug in its underwater case. I welcome all the odd looks from the other swimmers and think to myself, “Hey I don’t have to be perfect.  I’m just having fun, dancing and singing in the pool.” I know it is a long way from Pink Floyd, but it sure does work for my attitude and my work out.
